How it works

From art to tabletop in three steps

The app in action, sped up.
  1. The paladin's art on the cutting mat with a dashed selection box around her and the selected figure tinted

    Select your figure

Figurekeep finds the figure, or you drag a box round it. Add or remove parts with a click.

  2. The paladin laid out flat as a mini: front, fold-out base with her name on both tabs and a notes flap under each, and a mirrored back

    Build your mini

Pick a size from Tiny to Large, a base, a back and a name plate.

  3. Close-up of a printed page: Dame Ysolwen and Hagrun as minis with fold-out bases, name tabs, notes flaps and pink cut lines

    Print and cut

Download a PDF with cut and fold lines. Print on cardstock, cut, fold and play.

Before: a knight, a sorceress and a dwarf standing close together in a crowded tavern After: only the sorceress, lifted out of the crowd with a white border and a cut line
A real cutout made in Figurekeep. Drag to compare.

Busy scenes

Pull one hero out of the crowd

Maelis is wedged between a knight and a dwarf. Draw one box around her and she comes out alone, hair, wand and robe intact. One brush stroke brought back the tip of her slipper.

Cutting-machine kits

Character sheets

Your mini's face on your character sheet

The same cutout becomes the portrait on a printable sheet. Start from 5E, rules-light or a blank page.

  • Any game. Move, resize, rename or add fields: stress, sanity, ammo.
  • Less maths. Type an ability score and the 5E modifier fills itself in.
  • Four looks. Clean, Fantasy, Sci-fi or Gothic, and your hero can break out of the portrait frame.
  • To the table. Print it filled in or blank for pencil. Pro adds fillable PDFs, a party roster for the GM and 5E export to Foundry VTT.
  • Free build and print, watermarked
  • Pro every look, fillable PDFs, roster, Foundry
The top of a 5E character sheet in the Fantasy look: Dame Ysolwen's head and shoulders rising out of the portrait frame, beside her name, Paladin 3, Human, and her first four ability scores
Made in Figurekeep from the paladin at the top of this page, in the Fantasy look (Pro). The portrait is her own cutout. See the whole sheet.

Bases and supplies

How it stands up, and what you need

  • Fold-out base. No extra parts: the tabs fold out and tuck under. 1 inch for Medium, 2 inches for Large.
  • Round base. 25 to 60 mm, glued to a wargame base, a coin or a washer.
  • Slotted stand or card clip. Slides into the clear stands you already own.
  • Supplies. A printer, 200–300 gsm cardstock (about 75–110 lb cover), scissors and a glue stick.

Questions

Something else? Contact us.

Do my pictures leave my device?

No. Figurekeep runs in your browser, including the cutout model that finds your figure.

What art works?

Your own art, art you commissioned, or art licensed for this: painted characters and your own drawings both work. A clear, full-body figure works best.

Which games does it work with?

Minis are 5E compatible and work with any game played on a 1-inch grid or with bases: fantasy, horror, sci-fi and your own homebrew.

What will Free include?

Every selection and mini-building tool. Free will print 1 of your figures per download, watermarked, and keep one project with a backup file. Some Pro extras (more rings, effects, copies) preview on screen; a few, like the cutting kits, don't. See Pricing for the full list.

Which devices does it work on?

A computer works best: with a graphics card it finds your figure faster, with sharper edges. On a phone or tablet Figurekeep finds your figure too, more slowly. If it can't, it asks you to draw a box around it. Tested in Chrome on Windows; other browsers to be confirmed.
