Commercial use
What you may do with the minis, tokens and character sheets you make, on Free and on Pro.
Version 2, effective October 27, 2026.
The short version
- Free is for personal use. Play with what you make at your own table, with friends, online or in person, in games you run for pay, and post it online.
- Pro adds commercial use. Sell the minis, PDFs, cut files and tokens you make, and use them in paid adventures and crowdfunding campaigns.
- You need the rights to the art you start from. Pro covers the parts Figurekeep adds. It can't give you rights to someone else's picture.
- Never, on any plan: sell Figurekeep's built-in art on its own, use it in another tool or to train AI, or claim it as your own work.
- Our example characters are for your own games. Use minis and tokens made from them in your games, including games you run for pay. A GM may give them to the players in their own game. Don't sell them or post the files publicly, even on Pro.

What counts as commercial
Use is commercial when someone pays for what you made, or for a product that includes it. Selling a sheet of printed minis is commercial. So is a token pack in an online store, a cut file on a craft marketplace, or minis included in an adventure you sell.
Charging players for a game you run is not. They pay for your time and your game, not for the files, so it is personal use and fine on Free.
Never allowed, on any plan
Figurekeep's built-in art and designs are the painted and enamel token rings, crests, ornaments and animated effects, the base and stand templates, the character sheet templates and themes, and our example characters and free try pack. You may use them in what you make. You may not:
- sell or give them away on their own, for example an empty ring, a set of frames or a base template, or a token where our art is the product rather than your figure;
- use them in another tool or service, including one that competes with Figurekeep;
- use them to train or improve an AI model, or collect them for a dataset;
- claim them as your own work, or register them as a trademark or design.
The fonts in Figurekeep are open-source fonts under their own licence, the SIL Open Font License. That licence lets you use them in what you make, and it doesn't allow selling the fonts on their own.
Our example characters
The characters in the examples on figurekeep.com and in our free try pack (Hagrun the dwarf, Maelis, Dame Ysolwen and the others) are examples you can use in your own games. You may make minis and tokens from them for your own games, including games you run for pay. A GM may give them to the players in their own game. You may not sell them or post the files publicly, on any plan, Pro included, and the same goes for anything made from them.
They are part of our built-in art, so the rules in Never allowed, on any plan apply to them too: no use in another tool or service, no AI training or datasets, and no claiming or registering them as your own. Giving their minis and tokens to the players in your own game is not giving them away on their own: that is allowed.
The art you start from
A Pro plan licenses the parts Figurekeep adds. The rights to the picture you load stay with whoever holds them. To sell minis or tokens, use art you made yourself, art you commissioned with commercial rights, or art whose licence allows commercial use. If you made the picture with an AI image tool, check that tool's terms for commercial use. Selling minis of someone else's character or artwork needs their permission. The same goes for a ring you add with "Use your own ring": use only ring art you made or have the rights to use. More about your art and rights.
If your Pro plan ends
Things you made while you had Pro stay licensed for commercial use after your subscription ends, so you can keep selling them. Anything you download after that, on Free, is for personal use.
Questions
If you're not sure whether a use is allowed, email support@figurekeep.com before you sell, and we'll do our best to answer. This page sums up the licence in our terms of service; if the two ever differ, the terms apply. This page is general information, not legal advice.
